The primary role of the artist is to pay attention to what calls us.
Seven years ago, I moved back to my native Ozarks with a dream to create resonating speaker that evoked nature, coupled with artful craftsmanship to acoustically amplify your phone. I envisioned organic form juxtaposed with vertical lines to indicate the paradox of technology partnered with nature.
I had built custom craftsman wooden windows, doors and a kayak during my sojourn in the Pacific Northwest, yet creating an organic functional art form coupled with linear accents was much more difficult than anything I had ever attempted.
I started with a Black Walnut log, a mallet and an axe-like tool called a froe. I hewed the rough slab to create a form that mirrored the simplicity and beauty of a tree. What emerged took many attempts, broken tools and thousands of hours of sanding in my family’s Ozark barn to refine and complete the design.
Now I am pleased to partner with one of the leading artisans in the Ozarks to offer very limited batch functional art pieces.
Embersound is a work of art that evokes gathering, listening and beautiful design inspired by nature.
Your personal device merges with a functional art piece to create a warm rich listening experience.
